Summary

SSSD in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10, 6, 7, 8, 9 and other products has a flaw in its autofs responder. A packet length check on the UNIX socket allows an integer underflow that causes an out-of-bounds read (CWE-125). A local attacker with low privileges can send a crafted request with an invalid packet length, crashing the responder process and causing a denial of service.

Description from the CNA

A flaw was found in SSSD. A local attacker can exploit this issue by sending a specially crafted request with an invalid packet length to the autofs responder UNIX socket. This causes an integer underflow and an out-of-bounds memory read, which can crash the responder process and result in a denial of service (DoS).
