Attack profile from CVSS 3.1 · CISA ADP. Fix status from CNA. Impact type from CWE-502.
Summary
The String locator WordPress plugin before 2.6.8 does not restrict the classes allowed when deserializing database rows saved through its database editor (CWE-502). An unauthenticated attacker can store a serialized PHP object that is instantiated when an administrator later opens and saves that row. With a suitable POP chain from another installed String locator plugin before 2.6.8, this can lead to arbitrary file deletion, sensitive data disclosure or remote code execution. A public exploit is linked in the references.
