Summary

ImageMagick versions before 6.9.13-56 and from 7.0.0 before 7.1.2-31 are affected. Authorization is checked before the image is parsed and canonicalized (CWE-551), so a crafted image can bypass a security policy that uses coder as its domain. An unauthenticated remote attacker can use such an image to read data that the policy prohibits.

ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Prior to 7.1.2-31 and 6.9.13-56, a crafted image can bypass an ImageMagick security policy that uses coder as its domain, potentially allowing data prohibited by the policy to be read. This issue is fixed in versions 7.1.2-31 and 6.9.13-56.
