Attack profile from CVSS 3.1 · CISA ADP. Fix status from CNA. Impact type from CWE-200.

Summary

The SMS Alert WordPress plugin from 3.6.4 before 4.0.1 does not check that the acting administrator may manage the selected users before returning their stored billing phone numbers. On a WordPress multisite network, an administrator of one site can disclose the phone numbers of users belonging to other sites on that network. The attacker needs a high-privilege administrator account, and the flaw only applies when the plugin's gateway credentials are stored on the acting administrator's own site. The flaw is classified as CWE-200, exposure of sensitive information to an unauthorized actor.

Description from the CNA

The SMS Alert WordPress plugin before 4.0.1 does not check that the acting administrator is allowed to manage the selected users before returning their stored billing phone numbers, allowing an administrator of one site on a multisite network to disclose the phone numbers of users who belong to other sites on that network. This affects multisite only, and requires the SMS Alert WordPress plugin before 4.0.1's gateway credentials to be stored on the acting administrator's own site.
