Summary

MariaDB server from 10.6.1 before 10.6.28, from 10.11.1 before 10.11.19, from 11.4.1 before 11.4.13, from 11.8.1 before 11.8.9, from 12.3.1 before 12.3.3 and from 13.0.1 before 13.0.2 is affected. MariaDB insufficiently validates counts, offsets, lengths and field boundaries in FRM metadata when it opens binary FRM files (CWE-1285). A high-privilege attacker who can place a crafted FRM file in the data directory can trigger out-of-bounds access, crash the server or possibly execute code.

Description from the CNA

MariaDB server is a community developed fork of MySQL server. From 10.6.1 until 10.6.28, 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3, and 13.0.2, MariaDB insufficiently validated counts, offsets, lengths, and field boundaries in FRM metadata while opening binary FRM files. An attacker able to place a crafted FRM file in the data directory could trigger out-of-bounds reads or writes, crash the server, or potentially execute code. This issue is fixed in versions 10.6.28, 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3, and 13.0.2.

Remediation

Upgrade MariaDB server to 10.6.28, 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3 or 13.0.2, the fixed version on each branch. Red Hat fixes this in Red Hat Hardened Images through RHSA-2026:83108 and RHSA-2026:84689. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, 8, 9 and 10 have no fix available, and Red Hat OpenStack Platform 13 (Queens) has no fix planned.
