Summary

slide-maker through 5.8.0 from addsumtech contains a path traversal flaw (CWE-22) in generate_images_openai.py. The script trusts filenames in the image prompt manifest, so names containing ../ or symlinks let writes leave the output directory. An attacker who can influence deck source material can create directories and overwrite existing files at arbitrary paths, with local access and no privileges required.

Description from the CNA

slide-maker through 5.8.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability in generate_images_openai.py that allows attackers to write image files outside the output directory via manifest-supplied filenames. Attackers can influence deck source material so the image prompt manifest contains ../ or symlinked filenames, creating directories and overwriting existing files at arbitrary paths.
