Summary
A flaw in the BusyBox dpkg implementation affects BusyBox as shipped in Red Hat Hardened Images. The write_status_file() function does not reset a field cursor between package stanzas, so when two packages are removed in one invocation and the first stanza is larger than the second, the second stanza can be dropped from the status file. This is an out-of-bounds read (CWE-125). A local user who can trigger the removal of two packages in one run can cause limited corruption of the dpkg status file, with a low impact on integrity.
