Summary
The clevis-pkcs11-afunix-socket-unlock daemon in the clevis PKCS#11 pin logs LUKS disk encryption passphrases in plaintext to a log file that is created without restrictive permissions, so the default process umask makes it world-readable. A local attacker who reads the log can obtain the LUKS passphrase. The weakness is CWE-532, Insertion of Sensitive Information into Log File. CVSS 3.1 scores it 5.5 (MEDIUM) with vector CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N, CISA has not added it to KEV, and CISA SSVC lists exploitation as none and not automatable.

Remediation
The sources list no fixed version for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, 8, 9 and 10, and no fix plan for them. Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4 and 5 are not affected. Until a fix ships, restrict read access to the log file and rotate LUKS passphrases that may have been logged.
