Summary

buildebooks before 0.2.2 contains an OS command injection flaw in lib/kindle.js. The kindlegen EPUB file name is passed to child_process.exec without neutralization, so a crafted book project with a malicious front-matter filename or project folder name and kindle: true can run OS commands as the user running buildebooks. CISA's SSVC rates technical impact as total, while automatability is no and no exploitation is recorded; CVSS 4.0 scores it 8.5 (HIGH).
