Summary

Turnpress through 0.4.2 contains an OS command injection flaw, tracked as CWE-78, in the convertDocxToHtml function. Because pandoc is invoked with shell enabled, shell metacharacters in the names of supplied .docx files are executed. A local user with no privileges can run shell commands with the victim's privileges if the victim runs convert or create on a crafted file, with user interaction required.

Description from the CNA

Turnpress through 0.4.2 contains an OS command injection vulnerability that allows attackers to execute shell commands by supplying .docx files with crafted names. The convertDocxToHtml function in src/converter.ts invokes pandoc through execa with shell:true, so shell metacharacters in the --docx path run with the victim's privileges during convert or create.
