Summary

miniupnpc from 0 through 2.3.3 is affected. The minixml parseelt function skips an end-of-buffer check after advancing past a colon in namespace-prefix handling, causing a one-byte heap out-of-bounds read (CWE-125). A malicious or spoofed UPnP gateway on the local network can crash the client with a device description or SOAP reply whose element name ends in a colon. The references include a link to an exploit.
