Summary

Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved are affected in several release branches, starting at 23.4. A NULL pointer dereference (CWE-476) in the routing-policy nexthop-ECMP matcher lets a configured eBGP peer crash the routing daemon with a specific BGP packet while a nexthop-ecmp qualifier is attached to a BGP import policy. The result is a denial of service, and the attacker needs a configured eBGP peer and nothing more.

Description from the CNA

A NULL Pointer Dereference vulnerability in the routing-policy nexthop-ECMP matcher of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows a configured eBGP peer to cause a routing-daemon denial of service via a specific BGP packet received while a nexthop-ecmp qualifier is attached to a BGP import policy.
