Summary

DPDK lib/vhost vhost-crypto in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and 10 is affected. Session cleanup can leave a stale cached session pointer, and the data path does not check the session type before attaching it, which leads to use-after-free or type confusion (CWE-825). A local attacker with low privileges, such as a guest user, can trigger it to affect availability of the host vhost-crypto backend.

Description from the CNA

A flaw was found in DPDK lib/vhost vhost-crypto. Session cleanup can leave a stale cached session pointer, and the data path does not check the session type before attaching it, leading to use-after-free or type confusion in the host vhost-crypto backend.
