Summary

The Linux kernel's mac80211 channel definition validator accepts a 320 MHz bandwidth indication from a received CSA frame on a non-6 GHz link. It emits a warning for the unsupported width but continues with an uninitialized vht_operation.chan_width, which ieee80211_chandef_vht_oper() then reads. With panic_on_warn enabled, a single received frame can panic the kernel. Red Hat rates the issue Moderate, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 is affected with no fix available yet.

Description from the CNA

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mac80211: reject invalid 320 MHz CSA bandwidth The HT/VHT channel definition validator can receive a 320 MHz bandwidth indication from a received CSA frame on a non-6 GHz link. It warns for this unsupported width but continues with an uninitialized vht_operation.chan_width, which is then read by ieee80211_chandef_vht_oper(). With panic_on_warn enabled, this lets a received frame panic the kernel. Reject the channel definition before entering the VHT operation conversion. This preserves the existing CSA fallback while avoiding both the warning and the uninitialized read.

Remediation

Update the Linux kernel to 6.12.113, 6.18.56, 7.2.10, or 7.3, depending on the release branch. The fix rejects the channel definition before the VHT operation conversion, which keeps the existing CSA fallback and removes both the warning and the uninitialized read. CISA has not added this issue to KEV, and no exploit link is listed in the references.
