Attack profile from CVSS 4.0 · CNA. Fix status from CNA. Impact type from CWE-863.

Summary

Coder from 2.0.0 before 2.34.8 contains an incorrect authorization flaw in the acl_allow rule of its RBAC policy, which does not verify organization membership for per-user ACL entries. Removing a user from an organization does not scrub those entries, so an authenticated user can keep reaching previously granted organization-scoped resources such as templates and workspaces through the API. The flaw is tracked as CWE-863. An authenticated user with low privileges on the network can exploit it with no user interaction.

Description from the CNA

Coder from 2.0.0 before 2.34.8 contains an incorrect authorization vulnerability in the acl_allow rule of coderd/rbac/policy.rego, which does not verify organization membership for per-user ACL entries, and organization member removal does not scrub those entries. Authenticated users removed from an organization can keep accessing previously granted org-scoped resources such as templates and workspaces via the API.
