Summary

IBM Carbon Charts from 0.4.0 through 1.27.19 is affected, including the @carbon/charts, @carbon/charts-react, @carbon/charts-angular, @carbon/charts-vue and @carbon/charts-svelte packages. The MeterChart Title.truncateTitle() function writes a substring of user-supplied label text into the page with innerHTML without sanitizing it when the title exceeds the container width, which is a cross-site scripting flaw (CWE-79). A remote attacker who can get a victim to view the chart can run arbitrary JavaScript in the victim's browser session, and user interaction is required.

Description from the CNA

IBM Carbon Charts 0.4.0 through 1.27.19 is vulnerable to cross-site scripting. The MeterChart component's Title.truncateTitle() function re-inserts a substring of user-supplied label text into the DOM via an unsanitized innerHTML write when the title exceeds the available container width. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the victim's browser session.
