Summary

pypdf before 6.21.0 is affected. Its parser does not limit the number of elements in arrays and dictionaries, so a crafted PDF can make parsing consume large amounts of memory (CWE-770). A remote attacker can supply such a file, and the memory use occurs when a user processes it, which can degrade availability.

Description from the CNA

pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. Prior to 6.21.0, an attacker can craft a PDF containing arrays or dictionaries with many elements, causing parsing to consume large amounts of memory. This issue is fixed in version 6.21.0.
