Attack profile from CVSS 4.0 · CNA. Fix status from CNA. Impact type from CWE-319.
Summary
Snipe-IT before 8.6.3 ignores the return value of ldap_start_tls() in Ldap::connectToLdap(), so the connection continues without encryption. An on-path attacker can answer the StartTLS request with a protocol error to force cleartext LDAP binds and capture service-account credentials and end-user login passwords. The flaw is tracked as CWE-319, and the CVSS 4.0 vector shows a network attack that needs no privileges or user interaction.

Description from the CNA
Snipe-IT before 8.6.3 ignores the ldap_start_tls() return value in Ldap::connectToLdap(), allowing on-path attackers to force cleartext LDAP binds. Attackers can answer the StartTLS request with a protocol error to capture service-account credentials and end-user login passwords.
