Summary
Semantic MediaWiki from 2.5.0 before 7.3.1 has a missing authorization check (CWE-862) in its edit protection handling. When the $smwgEditProtectionRight setting is enabled, adding an Is edit protected annotation applies indefinite edit and move restrictions without checking the author's rights. An ordinary editor with low privileges can therefore lock pages against other editors and administrators. A public exploit is linked in the references.

Description from the CNA
Semantic MediaWiki from 2.5.0 before 7.3.1 contains an improper authorization vulnerability that allows ordinary editors to permanently protect pages by adding an Is edit protected annotation. When $smwgEditProtectionRight is enabled, EditProtectionUpdater applies indefinite edit and move restrictions without checking the author's rights, locking other editors and administrators out.
