Summary

mcp-ffmpeg through 1.0.5 contains OS command injection (CWE-78) in the resize-video, extract-audio and get-video-info tools. An attacker can embed $(), backticks or a closing double quote in an existing file or directory name supplied as videoPath or outputDir, breaking out of the child_process.exec command string. Injected commands run as the MCP server user. CVSS 4.0 scores the issue 7.3 (HIGH), and CISA has not added it to KEV.

Description from the CNA

mcp-ffmpeg through 1.0.5 contains an OS command injection vulnerability that allows attackers to run shell commands by supplying crafted videoPath or outputDir values to the resize-video, extract-audio and get-video-info tools. Attackers can embed $(), backticks or a closing double quote in an existing file or directory name to break out of the child_process.exec command string and execute commands as the MCP server user.

No fixed version is listed for mcp-ffmpeg. Until a fix is published, do not pass untrusted videoPath or outputDir values to resize-video, extract-audio or get-video-info, and limit these tools to media paths the operator controls.
