Summary
CVE-2026-99107 (GHSA-j5gh-3v4f-98gj) affects the Linux kernel from 7.1. In ntfs_new_attr_flags(), the function passes the base MFT record m to ntfs_attr_record_resize() even when the attribute sits in an extent record, where ctx->mrec is the record that holds it. This produces incorrect size calculations in memmove. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 7.8 (HIGH), and Red Hat rates it Moderate.

Description from the CNA
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ntfs: fix incorrect MFT record pointer passed to ntfs_attr_record_resize ntfs_new_attr_flags() passes the wrong MFT record to ntfs_attr_record_resize(). When the attribute is in an extent record, ctx->mrec points to the extent but the function receives the base record pointer m, causing incorrect size calculations in memmove. Fix by passing ctx->mrec (the actual MFT record containing the attribute) instead of m (the base MFT record) to ntfs_attr_record_resize().

Remediation
Update to Linux kernel 7.2.13 or 7.3, which contain the fix. The fix passes ctx->mrec, the MFT record that contains the attribute, to ntfs_attr_record_resize() instead of m, the base record.
