Summary

pretix versions from 0 before 2026.6.4, from 2026.7.0 before 2026.7.3, and from 2026.8.0 before 2026.8.1 are affected. API endpoints did not check the auto-incremented internal ID of a gift card when creating order payments, which is CWE-639 (authorization bypass through a user-controlled key). An attacker with low privileges can create a payment that references a gift card from another organizer and obtain its secret. Triggering a refund on that payment then increases the gift card's value.

Description from the CNA

Some of our API endpoints allowed to create order payments referencing a gift card by using the auto-incremented internal ID. This ID was not checked and allowed creating payments that reference gift cards from different organizers and thereby obtaining their secret. The gift card is not charged in this case, but by then triggering a refund on the payment, one can increase the value of the gift card.
