Summary

Ultralytics contains a code injection flaw in the check_det_dataset function (CWE-94). The function does not validate a user-supplied string before using it to execute Python code, so a remote attacker can run arbitrary code as the current user on affected installations. Exploitation requires the victim to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The issue has a CVSS 3.0 base score of 7.8 (HIGH).

Description from the CNA

Ultralytics check_det_dataset Code Injection Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Ultralytics. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the check_det_dataset function. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before using it to execute Python code. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current user. Was ZDI-CAN-30119.
