Attack profile from CVSS 4.0 · CNA. Fix status from CNA. Impact type from CWE-863.

Summary

SurrealDB from 3.1.0 before 3.3.0 contains an incorrect authorization flaw (CWE-863) because the streaming planner uses indexes on fields that have restrictive SELECT permissions. A remote attacker with low privileges and a record user account can run full-text MATCHES, compound B-tree, or HNSW KNN queries against restricted fields to infer restricted field values, such as which records contain a guessed value or which vectors are nearest.

Description from the CNA

SurrealDB from 3.1.0 before 3.3.0 contains an incorrect authorization vulnerability that allows record users to infer restricted field values because the streaming planner uses indexes on fields with restrictive SELECT permissions. Attackers can issue full-text MATCHES, compound B-tree, or HNSW KNN queries against restricted fields to learn which records contain guessed values or nearest vectors.
