Attack profile from CVSS 3.1 · CNA. Fix status from CNA and Red Hat. Impact type from CWE-862.
Summary
Red Hat build of Keycloak 26.4 and 26.6 are affected. Keycloak's Dynamic Client Registration component does not restrict which claim names can be used when new clients are set up. An attacker with valid registration credentials can create a client that maps standard user profile data to sensitive security roles, gaining unauthorized privileges on external applications that trust Keycloak tokens. The flaw is classified as CWE-862.

Description from the CNA
A flaw was found in the Dynamic Client Registration component of Keycloak, an open-source identity and access management solution. The issue occurs because the system does not properly restrict which claim names can be used when setting up new clients. An attacker with valid registration credentials could create a client that incorrectly maps standard user profile information to sensitive security roles, potentially allowing them to gain unauthorized privileges on external applications that trust Keycloak tokens.
