Summary
ZITADEL versions from 3.0.0 before 4.19.2 contain a privilege escalation flaw in OIDC token exchange that is classified as CWE-863, Incorrect Authorization. The admin.impersonation check can be bypassed, so end-user impersonators can impersonate administrators, including IAM_OWNER. An attacker holding the IAM_END_USER_IMPERSONATOR or ORG_END_USER_IMPERSONATOR role can sign in to relying applications as an administrator, with that administrator's roles and claims. The CVSS 4.0 vector requires high privileges and no user interaction.
