Attack profile from CVSS 3.1 · CISA ADP. Fix status from CNA and Red Hat. Impact type from CWE-416 and the CVSS impact.
Summary
curl versions 8.12.0, 8.12.1, 8.13.0, 8.14.0, 8.14.1, 8.15.0, 8.16.0, 8.17.0, 8.18.0, 8.19.0, 8.20.0, 8.21.0 and 8.22.0 are affected. During an upload, curl mishandles an HTTP/2 RST_STREAM from the server, which leads to a use-after-free of a struct Curl_easy object (CWE-416). A malicious server can trigger this with high attack complexity, without privileges or user interaction, causing high impact to confidentiality, integrity and availability.

Description from the CNA
During an upload, curl mishandles HTTP/2 `RST_STREAM` received from the server (with reason `HTTP_1_1_REQUIRED` or `REFUSED_STREAM`) leading to a use after free of a `struct Curl_easy` object.
