Summary

OpenSSH affects Red Hat Hardened Images and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. A username entered on the ssh command line can keep '$' or a non-trailing backslash, and when ProxyCommand or Match exec expands %u, those characters are passed into the shell (CWE-78). An unauthenticated remote attacker needs a user to take an action, and the impact is limited to confidentiality and integrity.

Description from the CNA

A flaw was found in OpenSSH. A username entered on the ssh command line can still contain '$' or a non-trailing backslash. When a configuration expands %u inside ProxyCommand or Match exec, those characters are passed into the shell.
