Summary

OpenSlide through 4.0.1 contains a heap out-of-bounds read (CWE-125) in its MIRAX reader, where get_tile_position reads past the slide_positions array. A local attacker can supply a crafted MIRAX slide with inconsistent Slidedat.ini values, and a user must open it. Applications that open the slide can crash and have their tile geometry corrupted.

Description from the CNA

OpenSlide through 4.0.1 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the MIRAX reader that allows attackers to read past the slide_positions array via crafted Slidedat.ini values. Attackers can supply a MIRAX slide whose CameraImageDivisionsPerSide does not evenly divide the image counts, crashing applications that open it and corrupting tile geometry.
