Summary
When curl is built with GnuTLS, a malicious WebSocket server can make curl send memory past its send buffer. The flaw is an out-of-bounds read (CWE-126) that occurs when gnutls_record_send() returns more bytes sent than it was given to send, which GnuTLS does after a blocked send. CVSS 3.1 scores it 8.1 (HIGH), affected versions run from 7.86.0 through 8.22.0, and no fix is listed. CISA's SSVC data shows a proof of concept exists and total technical impact, but the vulnerability is not in KEV and is not automatable.

Description from the CNA
When curl is built with GnuTLS, a malicious WebSocket server can make curl send memory past its send buffer. This is due to an out of bounds read following when `gnutls_record_send()` returns a number of bytes sent **greater than the number of bytes it was given to send**. GnuTLS does that after a blocked send.

Remediation
No fixed version is listed for curl. Red Hat's RHSA-2026:82895 covers Red Hat Hardened Images, which Red Hat rates Low. Until a curl release fixes this, avoid connecting over WebSockets to untrusted servers, or build curl without GnuTLS.
