Summary
Mistune before 3.3.0 contains an algorithmic complexity flaw (CWE-407) in its inline link parser. Unauthenticated attackers can exhaust CPU by sending long runs of unmatched '[' characters, which trigger O(N^2) probing in parse_link_text and parse_link_label, and a 16 KB payload can occupy a rendering worker for 30+ seconds. The CNA scored it CVSS 4.0 8.7 (HIGH), and Red Hat rates it Important. CISA has not added it to KEV, no public exploit is referenced, and CISA SSVC marks it automatable with partial technical impact.

Description from the CNA
Mistune before 3.3.0 contains an algorithmic complexity vulnerability in the inline link parser that allows unauthenticated attackers to exhaust CPU by submitting long runs of unmatched '[' characters. Attackers can send small markdown payloads that trigger O(N^2) parse_link_text and parse_link_label probing, occupying rendering workers for 30+ seconds per 16 KB input.
