Summary
i18next-http-backend 4.0.2 and versions before 4.0.3 contain an incomplete fix in interpolateUrl() that lets a namespace value starting with a slash form a protocol-relative URL (CWE-74). A remote attacker without privileges who controls the namespace value in a loadPath or addPath template can load attacker-hosted translations, which enables UI content injection and cross-site scripting.

Description from the CNA
i18next-http-backend 4.0.2 contains an incomplete fix in interpolateUrl() that allows attackers to redirect translation requests by supplying an ns value starting with a slash. Attackers controlling the namespace value can form a protocol-relative URL in loadPath or addPath templates to load attacker-hosted translations, enabling UI content injection and cross-site scripting.

Remediation
Upgrade the npm package i18next-http-backend to version 4.0.3, which fixes the flaw in 4.0.2 and earlier versions. Red Hat lists Migration Toolkit for Applications 8, Multicluster Engine for Kubernetes, Network Observability Operator, OpenShift Service Mesh 3, Red Hat AMQ Broker 7, and other products as affected without a fix. Red Hat's plan for Red Hat Edge Manager 1 is no fix planned.
