Summary

Apache Qpid Proton C through 0.40.0 has a stack out-of-bounds read when it verifies a misconfigured wildcard TLS certificate (CWE-125). A remote, unauthenticated attacker can read stack memory during that certificate check without any user interaction. Wildcard certificates issued to the RFC 9525 standard are not affected.
