Summary
OPNsense core 26.1.6 through 26.7.7 contains an authentication bypass in the captive portal roaming feature. Unauthenticated attackers can hijack authorized client sessions by spoofing unauthenticated MAC-to-IP observations (CWE-290). An attacker on the same Layer-2 segment sends forged gratuitous ARP replies that bind the attacker's IP to a victim's MAC, gaining portal access with traffic attributed to the victim. The CNA rates it CVSS 4.0 5.3 (MEDIUM), vector CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N.

Description from the CNA
OPNsense core 26.1.6 through 26.7.7 contains an authentication bypass vulnerability in the captive portal roaming feature that lets unauthenticated attackers hijack authorized client sessions by spoofing unauthenticated MAC-to-IP observations. Attackers on the same Layer-2 segment can send forged gratuitous ARP replies binding their IP to a victim's MAC, gaining portal access with traffic attributed to the victim.

Remediation
No fixed version is listed for OPNsense core 26.1.6 through 26.7.7 at the time of publication. Restrict access to the captive portal network segment so that untrusted hosts cannot send ARP traffic to it, and monitor the segment for gratuitous ARP replies that map an IP address to a MAC address already in use by an authorized client.
