Summary

Kyverno before 1.19.2 contains an unchecked type assertion in its variable substitution engine, an uncaught exception (CWE-248). A user who can submit resources can crash the policy engine by referencing non-string fields through shallow variable substitution in policies. The resulting panic causes webhook denial of service and, under failurePolicy Ignore, policy bypass.
