Summary

Kyverno from 1.11.0 before 1.19.2 has an unbounded decompression flaw in extractStatement (CWE-409). A remote attacker who controls registry referrer artifacts can push highly compressed gzip attestation layers that exceed the size limit once decompressed, exhausting memory. This causes admission controller out-of-memory kills and denial of service, and requires no privileges or user interaction.

Description from the CNA

Kyverno from 1.11.0 before 1.19.2 contains an unbounded decompression vulnerability in extractStatement that allows remote attackers to exhaust memory by supplying highly compressed attestation layers. Attackers controlling registry referrer artifacts can push gzip predicate layers exceeding maxPayloadSize when decompressed, causing admission controller OOM kills and denial of service.
