Attack profile from CVSS 4.0 · CNA. Fix status from CNA. Impact type from CWE-639.

Summary

SurrealDB before 3.3.0 does not check the namespace or database that a caller selects against the level at which a namespace- or database-level system user authenticated, which allows cross-tenant access. An authenticated attacker can set the Surreal-NS and Surreal-DB headers on /sql or call the RPC use method to read, create, modify, and delete rows in another tenant where table PERMISSIONS allow it. The flaw is classified as CWE-639, an authorization bypass through a user-controlled key.

Description from the CNA

SurrealDB before 3.3.0 does not check the caller-selected namespace or database against the level at which a namespace- or database-level system user authenticated, allowing cross-tenant access. An authenticated attacker can set the Surreal-NS/Surreal-DB headers on /sql or call the RPC use method to read, create, modify, and delete rows and read DEFINE PARAM values in another tenant where table PERMISSIONS allow it.
