Summary

phpMyFAQ from 4.2.0-alpha before 4.2.0-beta has an authorization bypass in its attachment administration endpoints. Category-restricted editors can upload or delete attachments of FAQs outside their categories by supplying arbitrary record IDs, a missing authorization check (CWE-862). An attacker with low privileges in medium permission mode can tamper with or remove files on unauthorized FAQs over the network, without user interaction. CISA SSVC rates exploitation as proof-of-concept, and the vulnerability is not listed in CISA KEV.
